For the first time – the ECPR School in Prague

More than 300 international medical experts met for the first time at the ECPR School conference in Prague at the end of October to exchange experiences. This new conference format is supported by a specially established ECPR working group of EuroELSO, which is entirely dedicated to the development of extracorporeal therapies in emergency medicine.

Under the leadership of Jan Belohlavek, cardiologist and intensive care physician from Prague, the multifactorial challenges in patient care in sudden cardiac death as well as the latest scientific and practical findings in care were presented and discussed. The multidisciplinary experts are striving for their recognition and establishment in the form of best practices, for example in medical guidelines.     

During a workshop, Christoph Benk from the Medical Center – University of Freiburg presented the technical possibilities of the CARL system for improved patient care in extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Eike Tigges from the Asklepios Klinik St. Georg in Hamburg also reported on his first in-hospital experiences and results with the CARL System.

The ECPR School in Prague seems to be a successful new conference platform for the multi-professional experts in the field of extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The participants’ interest in both the scientific-therapeutic aspects of CARL Therapy and the technological implementation of the CARL System in everyday care met with great demand.
